Natural Capital Ireland held an election for a new steering group to guide our organisation at the end of 2024 - and we are delighted to announce that the new members are now in place. Meet the NCI Steering Commitee 2025-2027. We look forward to getting together for our first in-person Steering Committee Meeting in IMMA, Dublin on Saturday, February 22nd.
2025 marks the start of the second decade of our organisation's work and we look forward to a whole new era as our Steering Committee takes up their places for 2025.
Much progress has been made over the past 10 years in the development of the natural capital approach in Ireland and abroad - we are proud of our involvement in the INCASE project piloting the System of Environmental Economic Accounting - Ecosystem Accounting in Ireland and continued close ties with initiatives that build and expand on that work, applying the approach in a variety of sectors. There is still much to be done in spreading the word on natural capital, through convening stakeholders, building capacity, collaborating in research and development projects and advocating for investment in Ireland's nature-data infrastructure and nature restoration.
We are delighted to have a number of new members joining our Steering Committee, pictured above:
Thomas Ball, KPMG Ireland Sustainable Futures

NCI thanks the outgoing Steering Committee members for their hard work and commitment over the past years and issue a huge thank you to the excellent candidates who ran for election, all of whom we hope to work closely with in some capacity in the future.
The Natural Capital Ireland Steering Committee will serve a two-year term, meeting quarterly for discussions on how best to carry out NCI's mission to support the adoption of the natural capital approach in public policy and corporate strategy, to promote informed decision-making, and to aid in the development of evidence-based natural capital projects, research and services.
As our first meeting will be in person on February 22nd at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham, Dublin, we recommend the committee, and our subscribers, can avail of the chance to visit the latest exhibition in the venue, 'Take a Breath', an examination of breathing, exploring themes of decolonisation, environmental racism, indigenous language, and the impact of war on the environment, with a film programme that includes Clare Langan’s The Heart of a Tree (2020), highlighting the importance of trees to the survival of the planet and the disconnection between man and nature.
