Natural Capital Ireland was delighted to be among the invited stakeholders at the recent Nature Restoration Plan Leaders Forum to share our views to guide the formulation of the plan, currently being developed by National Parks & Wildlife Services under the EU Nature Restoration Law.

NCI Executive Coordinator Deirdre Lane and our Steering Commitee Chair Dr Jimmy O'Keeffe, of Dublin City University, joined over 60 national organisations, agencies and government department representatives with almost individual 90 participants at in Dublin's Ashling Hotel on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, for engaged discussion on what will become the draft National Resroration Plan's principles, vision, challenges and enablers.
The event was chaired by academic Dr Aoibheann Ní Shúilleabháin, pictured below, with presentations by Minister of State with responsibility for Nature, Mr Christopher O'Sullivan TD and National Parks & Wildlife Service Director General Niall Ó Donnchú among others. Fintan Kelly of the Irish Environmental Network shared the collaborative report undertaken last year with NCI on High-Level Recommendations for Funding Nature Restoration in Ireland with the Minister, also below right.

Further meetings and call-outs for interested parties' feedback are still to come in the future so stand by for more updates.
In a podcast panel about the Restoration Plan, NCI's Dr Jimmy O'Keeffe also spoke to Philip Boucher-Hayes on RTE Radio One's Countrywide about the benefits of monitoring and valuing our natural capital in order to ensure the successful implementation of the Nature Restoration Plan - listen back here: https://www.rte.ie/radio/radio1/clips/22501295/
