A huge thank you to departing Natural Capital Ireland Chair Fiona Ross

Natural Capital Ireland would like to thank our departing Chair of the Board Fiona Ross for her work and commitment to our organisation over the past number of years.

NCI is very lucky to have had the benefit of Fiona's exceptional expertise as a much in-demand public and private sector Chair and Non-Executive Director, having also been appointed by the Government to chair Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ), Ireland’s public transport provider, as well as to the Board of the Health Service Executive (HSE), also serving as Chair of the National Pediatric Hospital Development Board and as a Non-Executive Director for the Scottish government and UK's Network Rail board.

Over her time at NCI, the organisation underwent a period of growth as interest in the natural capital approach increased and began to be adopted into national and international policy, with the organisation taking on many exciting challenges, including partnering in major research projects, events and policy consultations, including the drafting Ireland's 4th National Biodiversity Action Plan.

Since joining the Board in 2022, Fiona presided over a Governance Review and Strategy Review to help future-proof the organisation and supported NCI presentations to Government, including a natural capital briefing for Oireachtas members at Leinster House in 2023.

We wish Fiona (pictured above with NCI Director Alan Costello at our Galway think-in in September) all the very best, as she moves on to take up new positions within the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) and the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA).
