DECEMBER

NOVEMBER

The INCASE project final report was launched - well done to the INCASE team for all their hard work on this long-running project, NCI hosted a briefing event at Trinity

OCTOBER

NCI had a busy autumn with visits to Leinster House to talk funding for biodiversity action and hosted a stand at the Heritage Ireland 2030 Summit.

SEPTEMBER

NCI issued a pre-Budget statement to the Government recommending that a natural capital approach be used to ensure nature is prioritised at policy level across sectors

AUGUST

Our colleagues at IDEEA Group are 'decluttering the natural capital space, take the Peat Hub Ireland survey, with plenty of events for Hedgerow Week coming up.

JULY

NCI joins the Steering Group for Waterways Ireland as they incorporate the natural capital approach into their Strategic Plan, open for consultation, & new SEEA paper.

JUNE

Nature’s Frontiers Report: Achieving Sustainability, Efficiency and Prosperity with Natural Capital is launched by The World Bank, and Nature Restoration Law goes up for vote.

MAY

Read our Annual Report presented at the NCI AGM. This month, our team took part in a CSO stakeholder event on Ecosystem Accounting, with more news on our blog.

APRIL

NCI issued a Strategy Survey to subscribers and our INCASE ecologist Dr Catherine Farrell gave a taste of our project findings at the EU Waters of Life networking event.

MARCH

NCI executive coordinator Iseult Sheehy gave a presentation to an international audience at Stanford, USA, for Natural Capital Project and a new ForES project video.

FEBRUARY

The Board of NCI invited tender submissions to prepare a Strategic Plan for our organisation and we submitted to the Voluntary National Review on the SDGs.

JANUARY

We welcomed our new Steering Committee and shared Business For Biodiversity Ireland lead Lucy Gaffney's key takeaways from the Cop15 global biodiversity summit.

DECEMBER

2022 was a busy year for nature - a look back at the many exciting NCI projects we have undertaken.

NOVEMBER

Voting is under way for the NCI steering committee election and Business For Biodiversity Ireland lead Lucy Gaffney addressed the Citizens assembly on Biodiversity Loss.

OCTOBER

NCI hosted a stand at the Heritage Ireland 2030 Summit in Trinity College Dublin and Business For Biodiversity Ireland co-hosted the European Business & Nature Summit in Brussels.

SEPTEMBER

A call for feedback on Ireland's 4th National Biodiversity Action Plan public consultation.

AUGUST

NCI Report Series presents a policy review to identify where forestry-related ecosystem services play a role in different sectors. Also Business For Biodiversity co-hosting the European Business & Nature Summit.

 

JULY

Our explainer video introducing the concepts behind the natural capital approach to help members to understand and spread the word and our report on Teaching the approach at Higher-level in Ireland.

JUNE

A round-up of what happened at Biodcon22, with the Taoiseach declaring "a new era of stewardship for nature" and launch of the Business For Biodiversity platform by ministers and pilot businesses.

MAY

We issued a call-out for Biodiversity Conference volunteers and announced new Chair of the NCI Board of Directors Fiona Ross.

APRIL

Announcing the next National Biodiversity Conference for Ireland - #Biodcon22 will take place in Dublin Castle & online in June 8 & 9th, 2022, an initiative of the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage, facilitated by Natural Capital Ireland. Registration is open!

MARCH

We issued our Annual Report and Financial Statements and announced some updates to NCI strategy and Board. We have a new page on our site detailing our recent policy consultation submissions.

FEBRUARY

Looking forward to another major month for nature ahead - World Wildlife Day, Day of Forests & World Water Day - and read our submission to the public consultation on carbon budgets.

JANUARY

New ambitions for nature, as we share our submission to the National Land Use review and look ahead to spring events.

Our INCASE project and natural capital accounting were highlighted in the EPA State of the Environment report, and we are accepting nominations for our Steering Committee

OCTOBER

It's heading into conference season, and our event on Business and Biodiversity is now available to rewatch

SEPTEMBER

The Global Biodiversity Outlook Report and the Leaders' Pledge For Nature lead us to hope that 2020 will be a major turning point in how biodiversity is considered by policymakers and society as a whole

AUGUST

The Irish Business and Biodiversity project kicks off, our Steering Committee talks about mapping Lough Boora Sculpture Park in Co Offaly, and we add new board members as part of our governance goal
